I’m honored to introduce myself and share the path that has shaped my career in lactation consulting and breastfeeding research. I’ve dedicated myself to supporting mothers, babies, and families for over two decades, always striving to create a caring and evidence-based foundation for breastfeeding education and support. Here is a bit more about my background and experience:
- Volunteer Work in Breastfeeding Support Groups – Since 2002, I have been actively involved in various volunteer breastfeeding support groups, where I began my journey of offering guidance and compassion to families in the early stages of their breastfeeding experience.
- Lactation Consulting and Breastfeeding Preparation Courses in Hospitals – Since 2005, I have provided specialized breastfeeding consultations and taught preparatory courses in hospital settings, helping mothers and families feel well-prepared and confident before and after birth.
- La Leche League Lactation Consultant – In 2006, I joined La Leche League as a consultant, further deepening my experience with diverse families and expanding my knowledge in breastfeeding support.
- International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) – Since 2007, I have been certified as an IBCLC, maintaining the highest international standards of lactation consulting through continuous education and practice.
- Lectures, Workshops, and Presentations – Beginning in 2009, I have delivered lectures, workshops, and presentations at international conferences and breastfeeding consultant meetings, sharing insights and research with fellow professionals.
Research and Publications
As a passionate researcher, I’ve been able to contribute to the field through publications on breastfeeding practices, policies, and trends:
- “Infant Feeding Policies and Monitoring Systems” – Published in Maternal & Child Nutrition as part of the WBTi project, this article examines global infant feeding policies.
- “Are Our Babies Off to a Healthy Start?” – An article in the International Breastfeeding Journal (IBJ) exploring global breastfeeding trends, with a specific focus on Europe.
- “Biological Nurturing” – A case study examining the benefits of biological nurturing practices for mothers and babies.
- Integrated Care in Breastfeeding – Published in International Breastfeeding Journal, exploring collaborative approaches to breastfeeding support.
I also serve as the National Coordinator for Germany within the World Breastfeeding Trends Initiative (WBTi), contributing to the monitoring and advocacy of global breastfeeding practices.
- PhD in Health Sciences – In 2014, I earned my doctorate from the University of Bielefeld, where my dissertation focused on integrated healthcare approaches in breastfeeding support.
